Tow Truck Service
Towing is an essential part of life in the 21st century. It is estimated that as of 2010, there were over 1 billion cars in the world, and in 2016 for the first time ever, annual vehicle production has exceeded 70 million. That’s a lot of potential flat tires, blown gaskets, serpentine belts, cracked windshields and dead batteries! We at Selma Towing Service are doing our part in making sure some of those vehicles, at least the ones in the Selma, TX community, get from point A to point B without any hiccups.
History of Towing
The esteemed title of “inventor of the first tow truck” was bestowed upon Ernest Holmes Sr. in 1913. He modified his existing Cadillac with poles, pulleys and chains to be able to tow his friend’s cars back to his garage for repair. Later on in 1918 he filed for a patent for his idea, and it was official. We owe a great deal of thanks to Mr. Holmes, and towing wouldn’t be what it is today without his ingenuity and hard work.
How to Prevent Breakdowns
Maintenance, maintenance, maintenance. The key to avoiding frequent vehicle issues is performing routine maintenance. That includes regular oil and oil filter changes, tire rotation and inspection, fluid level checks, alignments, air filter changes and tune ups at predetermined mileages. You should also be aware of vehicle manufacturer recalls, and follow through with scheduling an appointment with a certified dealer to perform the service (usually free of charge). You know your car or truck the best, and you know when something doesn’t feel or sound right. Preventative maintenance is also important, and identifying potential problems before they start will save you a lot of time and energy later on.
Tow Truck Operators
Our tow truck operators are professional, courteous, timely and adaptive. We train our operators to think outside the box if there is a problem they can’t solve. If your vehicle is in a tough spot to navigate to, they will get creative or swap out for a better tool to do the job. Part of being a tow truck operator is stepping back and taking a look at the big picture. Especially in situations where there has been a collision, our operators are trained to investigate the wreck and make sure there isn’t a potentially dangerous situation waiting to occur if the vehicles are moved. When dealing with combustible fluids and friction, you can never be too careful.
Having top notch, friendly and on-time service usually costs you more than you’d like. Selma Towing Service, however, is the exception to the rule. Our goal isn’t to tow your wallet away with your car. Our goal is to save you from your predicament and save you a few dollars along the way. Being a “rescue service” we could justify charging you more, and you may not think twice about it because it’s something you desperately need. That couldn’t be more against our mission, and we want you to know that you’ll never have to worry about overpaying when you’re dealing with Selma Towing Service.
